Sustainable recovery: building on human rights and the 2030 agenda for sustainable development

The Sustainable Recovery Lab report contains the key messages and action points from the lab. Also find the video recording of the online event.

The Sustainable Recovery Lab was hosted by the Danish Institute for Human rights and co-sponsored by a broad coalition of Partners for Sustainable Recovery with a shared commitment to human rights and sustainable development (January 14th 2021).

The lab brought together governments, civil society, businesses, UN agencies, human rights actors and participants from across the world to discuss how to operationalise a concept of Sustainable Recovery from COVID-19 that builds on human rights and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Participants agreed to make the Sustainable Recovery the starting point for building a coalition to take the discussion and key messages forward, including under the Human Rights Council and the High-Level Political Forum. Concretely, it was recommended to launch a pledge whereby States and others would commit to using human rights and the SDGs as the blueprint for Sustainable Recovery in practice.

The Sustainable Recovery Lab was organised in conjunction with the 3rd intersessional meeting of the Human Rights Council, focusing on Human Rights and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
